Anti
Poverty Week 2006 Poster
This poster was released
to mark Anti-Poverty Week in Canberra for 2006. It aims to encourage the viewer
to reflect on the poverty that exists even in supposedly wealthy cities world-wide,
and to consider the ways in which homelessness prevents enjoyment of other human
rights. While the poster provides a reminder of the harsh reality of rough sleeping,
the figure of the rough sleeper also represents the tip of the iceberg in a society
where most homelessness is less visible and less popularly acknowledged. This
poster was produced jointly by the ACT Youth Coalition, the Australian Federation
of Homelessness Organisations, and ACT Shelter.
